Dae Jesus Acosta, age 24, of Central Falls, Rhode Island, was arrested around 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 29, in Darien for a road rage incident.

According to Connecticut State Police, a tow truck driver called 911 after Acosta, who was trying to merge onto I-95 in Darien, in front of the truck slowed down to 5 mph and then pointed what looked like a gun at the driver. He kept following the car for several miles.

A responding trooper located the car matching the description provided, initiated a motor vehicle stop at the Exit 10 entrance ramp, and directed Acosta to get out of the car, state police said.

Because the truck driver had mentioned a gun, troopers wanted to pat down Acosta before putting the handcuffs on him.

State police said that Acosta became uncooperative and combative before troopers could initiate the pat-down. In the interest of safety, troopers secured Acosta in handcuffs. Once secured, Acosta remained combative and resisted troopers’ efforts to place him inside a cruiser.

During a search of his vehicle, troopers located a BB gun, state police said.

Acosta was charged with:

  • Illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle
  • Interfering with officer/ resisting
  • Breach of peace
  • Threatening/displaying a firearm.

He was held on a $30,000 bond.
